My old BenQ FP71E+ 17" LCD monitors pixals are tiny compared to my Dads Toshiba Regza 32WLT68 32" HD Ready Freeview Digital LCD TV. Why? Which gets me thinking HDTVs must be rubbish comapred to LCD monitors. I may just get a decent LCD monitor for my consoles and PC seen as HDTVs pixals suck.

I would assume its due to the size of the display. If the 32" had the same size of pixels as your 17" monitor (assuming it does 1280*1024) then the resolution the tv could go up to would be something stupid like 2432*1945,(32/17 = 1.9, 1.9*1280*1024) which nothing would support (an 8800gtx comes close but still cant match this high a resolution), therefor you would get groups of pixels together displaying exactly the same thing, so it would make no difference if they used lots of small pixels to do this, or 1 larger pixel - you wouldnt see a difference

But thats just my assumption, so tv buffs feel free to shoot me down in flames :)

it's pixel, and they don't suck there's just less of them.

a descent LCD monitor will be able to display higher res (and by extension definition) than many HD TV's.

You're also generally sitting a lot further away from a HDTV than a PC monitor so the extra resolution would be pointless.

Well more fool you all. I meant descent as in Descent the game. A monitor capable of playing Descent acceptably.

I do humbly apologise as I started the confusion by not using a capital D.
