Hi guys,

normally when i go to a restaurant I usually tip.

But last night I went out and got a bit drunk, and went for an Indian with 3 others.

Now the service was crap, the food wasn't great and the restaurant was abit pants in general

When it came to the bill of £50 (we were hungry :p) none of us had enough cash between us to cover it, so i payed via card and my mates gave me their share of the bill.

Now when paying via the card I saw "Gratitude" and It wouldn't let me pass until i entered anything.

So I put 1 penny in as I didn't feel like tipping as it had been a crap meal all in all

And one of my mates said, "how much did you tip?"

"nothing. it weren't great tbh"

And my mate couldn't quite hack the fact I didn't want to tip.

Now I thought I was well within my own rights, I had payed for the meal, albeit other peoples chunks had been payed off but that bit extra, plus I had bought one of my other mates an Indian anyway as he's skint.

What do you guys think?

Should I have tipped?

Was I in the right/wrong?

Thanks :)

I've tipped before,

in the Indian in Rainham the service is excellent the food is fantastic and its very cheap, so I always leave a tip.

But if I went there tonight and it was crap, no way would I tip.

Just quite astonished by how my mate reacted, but I think I did the right thing and you guys seems to have confirmed it.
