Having completely forgotten what was involved with my last motherboard/cpu change, I was just wondering if there are any tips for making it go as smooth as possible regarding the software side of things.

Changing from a Asus with a C2D to a Asus with a 2500K, I am correct in sawing I MUST do a fresh install of Win 7 on first boot. What are the chances of it booting if I don't??

I have all files backed, photos, music, vids, downloads and also my complete games drive onto an external hardrive.

I also think my Win 7 OEM version is a one off activation?? If so, is it a case of called MS and getting it activated again?

Cheers

I would do a clean install without a doubt. You will then need to activate over the phone, although technically an OEM version is tied to the Motherboard in your machine at the moment.
