Does anyone know any tips for downloading faster on ADSL as its **** poor download rates are annoying me.

Does anyone know the TCP/IP trick where you unblock the microsoft windows 5 (is it) max TCP/IP connections at any one time...

I am also running on a D-Link G604T Wireless router which could also do with a few tweaks, ive already done a few little enhancements but could do with any ideal tips on how to make my whole net and download process run faster,

cheers,

James.

Ok so does anyone actually know the tcp/ip thing? does anyone actually know any tips for increasing the download rate?

The thing is you say ISP ISP ISP you lot go on about it... but how is it the ISP, its where you are, what your on, how your line handles it, how close you are to the exchange... and i have compared like 20-30 ISP's to the one im on and mine was the best...

I just ned help with the downloading, my computer and router settings to allow more... thats all. not changing my ISP...

1. Your ADSL performance isn't based on your distance from the exchange but the "quality" of the line i.e. available noise margin and attenuation
2. How have you been able to compare Demon with 20-30 ISPs?
websites... comparison website... feedback websites... done my research.. had 3 weeks to do so...

To be completly honest from what I know there isn't any quick fix to better speeds. If you did post your download speeds we could tell you whether they needed improving or not?

I tried them a while back TCP optimizing, the lot it's really mostly depenent on your connection I know I saw no difference if anything it became unstable.

-edit-

Try downloading big files if you can get 600/700+ that's decent. You said before you got a 5mb on your speed test?

No, not good at all.

Umm, you definietly have a stuck IP profile. You're getting 0.1mb >_<

However, you're getting the proper speed from your IP profile so once it's fixed, your speeds will be good.

If you're still on the 10 day "training period" then this might resolve itself after the 10 days. if not, phone up your ISP and tell them you have a stuck IP profile.
What exactly is the IP profile?
