Tips for first fireworks?

Looking to go to one or two displays next weekend with my camera

I'm guessing it's not really any different to lightning pictures except that the light from the fireworks is much longer lasting

Am I right in thinking
Full manual
moderate to small aperture (f8-f16).. Think I was f5.6 with lightning
Iso 100
Fluorescent/cold white balance area?
Remote shutter + tripod
Experiment with shutter speed

Also without Knowing how close I'll be I may have to take both Tele wide and mid ranges!
 
Tripod on stable ground, mirror lock on to minimise vibrations.

You're going to be after some longish shutter speeds.

 
I use a slow shutter speed and cover the lens between fireworks so that there are several different fireworks in one image.

Mirror lock up is a good hint
And yep I know about IS off but easy to forget so thanks!
The covering of the lens is a good idea. Just a thick piece of card?

Been to Kimbolton.
The display was very short for a 10 quid ticket
Unfortunately the display moved from the prior Year and it was tricky to get any back drop in of the castle

First set of shots I just had fireworks in and tbh they weren't that exciting
Lucky I decided to move half way through
I managed to find an angle (just) where I could get the castle in and fireworks and this made pics much more interesting

In end I only used fast shutter speed (1-2sec)
Anything longer and fireworks blurred too much
Iso 100
Aperture 4-6 ish
Speed 0.5-2seconds

Took a variety of lenses as I didn't know how close I'd be.
Ended up with 10-22mm exclusively. Tbh I wouldn't have been able to change lenses quick enough anyway
That damn 17-55mm is calling
