Hi Folks,

I have been trying to get into playing GoW online and am having some success with it (I can sometimes kill people!). However, most of the time I just die straight away. What are your tips to compete online. So far all I do is as soon as the round starts get my shot gun out (I don't think I have ever killed anyone with the lancer except for a few chainsaw kills) and run into the middle of which every map it is and try and blow them away at close range. I am struggling with the aiming of the shot gun as I try and "shoot from the hip" without aiming most of the time but I can't seem to get it right.

Also, I'm never sure how much I should shoot ahead of people to compensate for the lag (I only ever seem to play Americans, I don't ever recall playing a game hosted in the UK)

Thanks for any help

Matt

ok then boy first things first.

The lancer is the best weapon when your starting a round, dont pull out the shotty till you are at spitting distance.

Follow your team and stick together, grenades are no so devestating as to stop you staying close but still dont bunch.

Use cover and always cheack before moving.

The weapons are very well balanced, like the long reload on the sniper and fireing on the torque bow so get training with them.

Weapon pick up are oftern in the middle and very open. Make sure you have back up before running for them.

Use the roll like the A button is going out of fasion. Seriously it makes the the biggest difference.

Realise that there are 3 states when hurting someone.
1. Hitting them (they wont be able to rev the lancer and they will slow down)
2. Stunning them. This normaly happens with an out of range nade or a good melee.
3. Downing them. this gets them immobile and undefended.

Past this is death.

The lancers chain saw should only be used when you have snuck up on someone, other wise they will just shoot you, you lose revs, they kill you.

Got a nade stuck to you...roll into the enemy to atleast take them with you.
(I once to 2 out this way)

Other than that just get into a good game that keeps going and practice. You will learn all the tricks.

Above all have a team that communicates. This will win over most things. I find this game is very fair so no one person can dominate. Always know who is where and what there intentions are.

I'm on some times give me an add :D

If you aim...you get head shots...then you get kills...

Shooting ahead of people is just summing you learn.

Honestly the shotty is for close call...if you can't shake hands with them then you should be aiming for the head with the lancer. But once you are close enough...it will devestate...also if you have the lancer and they have the shotty...your meele is going to rape if they reload..

Active reloads are summign to learn...they make a big difference.

I have recently got the game and to be fair I totally suck...

I am trying to learn what works best and just wanted to check is it best to aim or just not aim?

I know it would be different for different guns.. but say midrange you have a lancer it is always best to aim?

If you are close range do you bother aiming with the shotgun or just shoot?

Aiming depends on situation.

If your in cover, then aim. TBH blind fire is a waste of ammo unless they are coming round the corner and you have a shotty.

If you need speed, IE to get to cover or to grab a weapon, then dont aim.

When you come to close range it gets hard...really you just need to keep playing and learn. Also look what other people do, if a guy killed you, what did he do that you didn't.

In close combat aiming will give you the edge to do more damage by being able to get head shots and use your bullets wisely. But then you wont be able to run. But you can still roll.

A very good tech is to get your shotty and roll into the enemy, and i mean roll in to him as in physicly hit him, when you come out of the roll the shotgun is as close as it could be and even with out aiming a head shot is easy, just be careful for chainsaws.

How do you spray and pray with a shotgun?
Same as any other gun, surely even you can understand that?

I'll explain it just in case:

You aim roughly in the right direction and then fire off as many rounds as you can without aiming :) It's still spraying and praying but a little slower :)

Well yeah, but then it's not spraying, because spraying is holding the button down and letting the full-auto fire of the gun take over for you. If you're using a shotgun, you're clicking every time, and you're still in control of where you fire, so even if it's still just luck, it was you that got your aim over the other person, not the gun.

The principle is exactly the same.
