Hi, I have a Dell G5 5500 and i have just ordered the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) to replace my current 1TB drive.

I did try to open this laptop once before and gave up because i just couldn't see how to open it once the screws were out, it just wouldn't seem to come apart.
For anyone who has opened one, do you have any tips on how you done it?
I think i read somewhere that when i open it, there is a wire you have to disconnect?
Is the SSD easy to replace once you have it apart?
Also, will my old ssd have a heatsink on, or is it not needed for these ssd's?

Regards
James

Dell are usually very good for providing disassembly/repair instructions for all laptops. Check out their official support site, and aside from that I'm sure there'll be a Youtube video showing it done.
Been a while since I've worked on any laptop that hasn't needed a pry tool to open it.

Once the screw are out you need to slide a pry tool around the edge to release the clips. Once you release the base you should be able to open it enough to see inside to release the ribbon cable. There are a few youtube videos
