Tomorrow I will be building my new computer but keeping my HDD(1TB) which has everything on it from Photo albums to Steam games and of course an Operating System(Win 10)

When I install Windows10 onto my SSD(From USB) what will happen to the OS in my HDD? Do I have to delete it or just select SSD from the boot menu? And will my PC be the same with all files on it except running OS and a few games from SSD?

All advice is appreciated!

you can keep your os on the hdd for now,its up to you then to save what you need from it ect

some games might need reinstalling

just set the ssd as first boot device after installing windows, just have the ssd attached when installing windows than connect the 1tb after install and set ssd as first boot

What do you mean "It's upto you then to save what you need from it ect".

It's going to be my 2nd drive, I am keeping it.... Can I not just use it as normal? Only thing different is where I save/load things?

Most things won't work though unless you re install them

You create a custom folder on the HDD and point the installer to it

Whatever you want to install to the 1tb hdd

Oh, basically everything I download :)

Also... Once I install the Motherboard & Windows (to SSD).. I can then shut my PC back down and install my old HDD in the 2nd space with all my old files on it? and it's good to go?

yeah, just set the ssd as first boot device in the bios so it boots from that rather than the hdd

It was a great success! :D Booted up first time.

Booted up with SSD and my windows key didn't work... So bought one for £20 off eBay.

I then installed my HDD and a few fans.. Turned on PC and windows was no longer asking for a Serial KEY.

Is this because windows is still on MY HDD? I was going to delete it since its about 25gb but would this cost me losing my registered windows 10?

idk,but it should have worked your original key if you had it

Also the user has great feedback.. I've been using eBay for many years.

The feedback will remain positive until the key stops working. Please see the Windows sub-forum. Many people have had issues with cheap keys.

The only way to get a legit key is from Microsoft or a retailer such as OcUK.
