I have used firefox as my second browser forever until today, I have now made it my default browser and I just find it works much better in just about every way than what internet explorer does.

However, some of the things I was wondering about with firefox is >>

1. how come when I type in the search bar thingy say for example BBC NEWS, it doesnt start to show me website options below or above (cant remember where it starts to show you suggestions but it does on internet explorer) as I type in each extra letter just like the way my internet explorer does ?

is there a way to make it do what I want as I quite like that option , if so can someone please tell me what the options are I need to select ? thanks.

2. another thing is that in internet explorer I loved how I could set the web screen display permanently to whatever I want, for me it was always a custom number of 111 as that size suited my eyes, I have a 42" Sony LED Screen, so is there a way I can do this and make it stick permanent too with firefox please thank ? if so please tell ? :)

3. I also liked how Internet explorer would tell you that you started to spell words wrong as you went along, can I do this too permanently with firefox ?
if so please tell too thanks :)

4, lastly, I have always noticed that if I play things like bbc or itv catch up tv programs whilst using firefox that it seems to reset the size of the screen the video plays in every time I open firefox, I likes how it didnt do that with internet explorer, so is there a way to fix that permanent in firefox too please ?

if It can do all that then its absolutely perfect as far as I am concerned ;);)

cheers guys n gals ;)

1: Options < Advanced > General tab > 'Search for text as I start typing'.

2: I have no idea what 111 you mean or web screen display but assume the default zoom level at 110%? In the menu toolbar click View and choose Zoom, set it to zoom text only and then you can use the CTRL++/CTRL+- buttons to zoom the text by 10% increments.

Firefox remember this on a per website basis so every site needs to have its zoom level set accordingly if that's what you want. A blanket zoom level can be applied in the Content tab under Settings by increasing the default font size.

3: Firefox has in-line spellcheck. You need to have a dictionary added by right clicking any text box like a forum reply box and choosing Language then add the British English dictionary. Also on the right click menu you should click "Check spelling". Typos will be underlined red as you type.

4: The video window size? I don't understand this, need more info!

thanks mate :)

4th thing there you are unsure of, what I mean is that when I go to watch say catch up tv programmes lets say coronation street on stv player if you know it, lol, the picture is always too big compared to what like it is on Internet explorer, and really nomatter how small I zoom it out on firefox the picture is still too big, that in theory sounds ok, but its not because they catch up tv programme players most often show repeats of tv programs in SD quality and therefore are much better viewed in smaller sizes as the larger the picture the poorer the SD quality is, you know what I mean now mate ?

I think so but I cannot confirm this as STV Player won't broadcast any streams in my area so cannot play anything in it. Channel 4oD, TVCatchup etc are all fine. Sounds like a compatibility difference in STV's player itself.

yea mate, probably, cause when I use ITV player its fine, you can use stv player in any part of the uk by the way mate, you just need to put in a Scottish postcode when it asks you, simple as that, its the same as I do when I watch stuff on ITV player, I find an English postcode on the internet in 2 seconds and then I enter it in and it works fine :);)
