Tiscali Dial Up Trouble Plz Help

I have a friends machine here which when you dial the Tiscali Pay As You Go Number Gives the following error message...

Error 777: The connection attempt failed because the modem or other connecting device on the remote computer is out of order.

I tried my backup firefly dial up account and it dialed and connected fine. Have trebble checked all the tiscali settings and still no joy can anyone plz plz help!

Just tried the machine and it lets me dial freeserve pay&Go but still not working with tiscali. Has anyone seen this problem before?

may seem stupid but see if you try using the phone and dialing the tiscali dial-up number does it start doing the usual "56K modem" screeching when listening to it over the phone?
as if it doesnt then you've got the wrong number possibly i think.
