Just been round to my elderly neighbour to help them out with an problem on their PC. They have Tiscali as their ISP (I know, but they were offered a good deal, and it suits their needs) and access the email via the web. The problem is that the text in some, not all of their mails, are not visible.
The email, and all the addressees are there as is the subject and attachments if any, but there is simply a white box where the text or graphics should be.
The problem arose when their friend, "an expert in computers" uninstalled Norton and replaced it with Kaspersky.
So far I have tried:
Disabling Kaspersky Protection
Reducing all IE privacy and security settings to minimum.
Installing Firefox and trying it on that - same result.
Clearing temp files and cookies.
The strange thing is that if you print the mail all the text is there. Its the same if you click on reply - the new window that opens up shows all the email text as it should appear on the main page. There is no indication in the Tiscali mail center that it is being treated as spam
I've tried various support lines Dell blame Tiscali, Tiscali blame Dell, Kaspersky, the postman, the neighbours cat and even Lord Lucan
Their "expert friend" also changed some other settings, but I don't know what as he did it so fast that they couldn't see what he was doing.
Any ideas???
I'm gonna uninstall Kaspersky, but I struggle to see how that will make any difference as it didn't work with Kaspersky protection disabled. I'm stumped by this one - please help..
Thanks in advance.
Its a tiscali mail account btw
