Hey guys, I've spent ages looking into the best move for my next machine, considering both Mac and PC and I'm going for PC again, I love Macs but they just don't have the spec for the price.

I'm looking at the Titan at the moment http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-193-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat= and will be putting the 8GB of RAM in there and the GTX570 as well.

Would anyone argue against a spec like this? Say in favour of the i7? I don't really have a preference on getting to build it myself due to time..but thought it worth checking to see if I should try and upgrade the mobo a little or something like that.

I'll be gaming (BF3 mostly =D ) as well as doing some After Effects, graphics, and web design work too, hence the i7 consideration..but not sure if there will be an epic benefit.

It's not really though is it? I'm looking for an overall opinion on whether there are several components in this spec worth swapping out making the self build more viable... if you're going to just say built it yourself would you be gracious enough to say why? I'm looking for constructive input on the spec list if possible please mate.

It's all good components in there only thing I would add is an ssd stretch to the bigger one if you can. This would be better than spending more on an i7

I was planning on getting the 500GB drive it comes with and then picking up an SSD later on as well.

Would you say you'd be a heavy After Effects user? there is quite a big benefit of the i7's hyperthreading with Adobe's CS5 suite. link
If you can afford the i7 then it would be worth it. saying that the prebuilts look a tad expensive. Whats your max budget?

The stuff that I'm doing at the moment I wouldn't classify as too heavy.. but it will progress on the more work I get, wanted the 570 to support the MPE, I'm just a little limited by price. Wouldn't want to go any higher than £1000 but would prefer it to be closer to the £900 mark.

It's fun when it all goes smoothly. ;)

For some people who have limited spare time, sometimes a lump of metal is better because you can just get on and use the thing without borrowing parts from other systems to prove what the hell's going wrong. :p

Right on the money...time is not my friend at the moment, and don't have other components for testing anymore should things break.

Do you need a copy of windows?

I've got a copy of Windows all sorted as well so that won't be needed.

Awesome, thanks for the advice, in terms of the specification I've got extra HDDs at home so I could remove that as an option. I looked at one of the bundles and went for the below, which is similar and puts it in the middle of the two above..

Aces, looks great. In terms of picking up a bundle over the above CPU, RAM, Mobo...a n00b question as I've never dabbled, is the overclocking process done on these particularly sensitive? Last thing I wanna do is blow it to bits when I could have had someone do who knows what they are actually doing!

It's something I've always looked at doing, just not built anything worth overclocking in a while. Really appreciate your help on this matey, I'll take a look over the components and hopefully make a purchase soon!

This is essentially the same price as the i5 system I was looking at as well...lets just hope the build works out!

It's ok mate, thanks for the other options, certainly more to consider, especially the CPU cooler. I should be ok for the self build.. I'll got through everything the day I get it and make sure all of the packaging is ok and nothing is damaged. Good guys here so I'm sure if there is something wrong they will sort it for me =].

In terms of that RAM, is there any advantage to the others you recommended other than colour?

I think I'm going to go with the MSI board. I like the look of the AS Rock one better, but ultimately a little colour on the board which is going in a Mesh windowed 600T won't make much difference to me. I'm passed the point of epic pimpage, Just want a good solid set of components and then a decent looking case.
