Hi
I am new new to forum and would like some help.
I was thinking of buying a system with q6600 with a 3.4ghz clock and Titan Amanda to cool it.
I am keen to get a system that will last a few years but will clocking a system to this level eventually lead to proccessor problems after 3-4 years or is it no difference in overclocking it to say 2.9ghz.
I want performance but no hassle.I consider it to be best option at present with asus p5k premium for overclock for the 4yr period for games that may require multi threading but this is only my opinion.

Also am I right in saying the Amanda as it is reletively new that no one would have many years reliability experience as I here that it would be difficult to take of motherboard or would you recoimmend this as it is the option that goes with the system.I believe it has a 2 year warranty.

Thanks

for cooling the q6600, most popular cooler here at the moment is the tuniq tower although its performance is a tiny bit behind the thermalright ultra extreme 120.

regarding if a overclocked quad will survive 4 years overclocked, it should do but no-one can really tell you as the quads havent been out 4 years.

finally what is your budget and welcome to the fourms

I have the titan ammanda on my amd x2 chip and tbh I don't think I will be getting it again. It's a complete pain in the ass mounting it and its bloody huge and I haven't noticed that much difference in the temps at all from my stock cooler! Oh not to mention when you have that crappy little pci card plugged in anytime the cpu heats up above 50c or something this loud ass alarm goes off scaring the crap outta anyone near it.
Go for the tuniq tower or the TRUE

Had an Amanda. Not the best TBH.

My Scythe Ninja cooled similarly and didn't use electricity while doing it! :p

As for the Tuniq and Ultra 120 Extreme... they both cooled better than the Titan.

If i were you i'd save some pennies and go purely air. :)

Thanks for that info everyone and useful.
Jak731 , my budget is £850 - £900. and would welcome a build based on a 4 year unit. I already have screen. The new E8400 was tempting but I beleive the q6600 for future multithread still remains best option for 4 year plus. The p5e was also in my mind for later pci 2.o upgrade as was ap5kc for later ddr3. but I guess p5k premium is best for overclock.I was offered a big typhoon instead of Amanda but have no experience of its cooling .
Finally as a cheaper option, a straight pk5 board without potential of upgrade would be a reasonable option or not?
I certainly would appreciate views as you can see I am undecided.
Cheers
