I'm fitting this to my mobo/chip in the next few days as I want to run my CPU at 2.8GHz+ and the temps are a bit on the high side with my current cooler - has anyone fitted one to a 965P-DS3 board and are there any potential pitfalls I need to know about? :) Don't want to get caught out!

Ta muchly.

I dont know about the fitting but get some cable ties and buy a noctua fan and install it in push/pull. That dropped another 11-12 deg off my cpu peak temp whilst clocking

 Wow, I'll give that a go. Which Noctua did you order - the 800 or 1200RPM one? is it worth ordering 2 for the HSF... is the existing one on there quite noisy or is it pretty quiet?

Its not too bad. I would change it though if i had a spare Noctua but i only ordered 3 extra's :D

I ordered the nf-p12 I think its 1300rpm but comes with adapters to go from 1300-1100-900. but they were about £17 quid each so not cheap

You do have to bodge on the second fan with cable ties but if you take your time it'll look fine.

If it performs better than the Noctua cooler with 1 fan as standard itll blast it out the water with 2.

I'm happy with it so far. Think the next best would be water.

Cheers, Matt.

I'll take a look tonight, I think it'll be worth ordering 2xNoctuas in that case :) This overclock is saving me a packet in building an i7 rig anyhow so a few quid on fans etc is fine!

The two Noctuas I have on the case are barely audible, must say I like 'em :)

2.8GHz hits 70*C after 45mins on full load so hopefully this should fix that issue :D

I have one :p but damm the fan stinks, I m sure its the paint its like I ve been sniffing solvents all day

not if your using decent fans.

I didnt notice any change adding 1 extra fan. Apart from the amount of air now flying out the back of my case.

Its not the quietest of setups (7 120mm fans 1 120mm psu fan and my 8800GTX)

But its still Quieter than my previous setup with an arcticfreezer pro and 2 case fans

I didnt think it was that big but then i compared it to my freezer pro and then I laughed.

I'm replacing a Freezer Pro with this :) Did you guys wait until it was on the board before fitting the fans?

It's quite weighty so I'm a bit nervous about the strain it might put on my mobo but I'm sure the retainer bracket will make sure it's ok :)

Right, ordered two NF-P12s on Sat Delivery for this beast... should work like a dream :) The Freezer Pro I have is run at 100% all the time (I turned off fan control to keep temps down) - it's the loudest thing in my PC!

Should be nice to have good, overclockable cooling! I also have a Samsung Spinpoint F1 to replace my WD so with any luck my rig should be noticeably quieter come Sunday ;)

The only thing I wonder about with push/pull is whether I'll have any turbulence/noise created by the second fan blowing into the exhaust fan in my case... I'll soon see I guess... :)
