Would this be a viable option? that would be just about stretching my budget and wouldn't be able to go over that price really.

I'd also be using the PC for some light gaming and entertainment (DVD's) etc

Any help appreciated, cheers!

Do you mean recording music with it, where the computer making a noise is very bad, or processing files using it?

I'm quite ignorant when it comes to what music production involves, but if you need the machine to be silent a prebuilt is probably not the way to go.

Krypt spec for anyone else who doesn't know which it is

:- Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AMD 770 Motherboard
:- Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel
:- ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

It'd be for recording, but noise isn't too much of a concern due to the fact I can snake cables into a different room altogether and use that as a tracking room, so it shouldnt be a problem, that said obviously the quieter the better. it'd also be used for mixing and mastering though, so it'd need to be able to handle high quality/large file size samples well.

Sorry for not being clearer in my original post!
