Hello everyone I have some questions about the Titan Nero http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-259-OK. I currently have an old Dell Pentium 4 which has served me well for many years but is getting on abit and is annoyingly slow. In the current market practically everything is better than what I have hehe. There's so much choice it can be pretty hard to decide what's good enough without going over the top on a system that's much more powerful than I would need.

It'll be used as a family computer, playing films/music, lots of internet browsing. My first question is, will it be able to run slightly older games? Won't be playing any FPS on it, maybe some strategy games and probably MMOs like WoW and Eve. Will it be fine for that? I don't expect max settings.

And secondly what monitor would you suggest is good to go with it? My eye has settled on this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-034-BQ&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat= Again I huge step up from the 17inch I currently have. Will the cpu/graphics card (gt 430) be able to handle videos/games on 1920x1080 resolution?

Those are my major concerns (apart from the whole 'switch it on and it blows up' kind). I would've liked to try my hand at building one but have been told that's a definite no no seeing as it's for family/kids and not me by myself. I've only ever owned 2 PCs before (including my current one) so I'm hoping I'm going in the right direction :D Thank you very much for reading and I look forward to your replies.

Hmm, budget, £550 absolute maximum.

Yeah I've looked at that, a very good system, probably best bang for your buck but I'd like to keep the costs as low as possible and considering I need an OS and a monitor with the 'Krypt' they'd go a bit higher than I'd like.

Like I said, closest thing I'll come to gaming is wow/eve and some slightly older strategy games (not starcraft). If the Nero can handle that I'll be happy with it. Or should I be looking at quad cores at this stage?

Depending on the resolution of the monitor you get and how much you want to crank up the settings, you might need a better graphics card than the one that comes with the Krypt. The dual core should be fine for what you're planning on using it for though.

Aiming for the BenQ 22" monitor, 1920 x 1080. In the comments section of the Nero, people have said they've phoned up and asked to upgrade to a 5770, so I could do that, but only if necessary.

I guess there's always gonna be a give and take situation when buying on a budget :(

The Nero is an excellent system for the price and is near perfect for your situation. The only problem is that the GT 430 will lack abit of grunt at 1920 x 1080 resolution. A GTS 450, GTX 460 or 5770 would be a good upgrade choice over the 430 GT.

5770 it is then. :) I might hold off on the monitor until I get the graphics card and use my current monitor as a substitute till then.

Last question I think the motherboard of the Nero http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-278-GI lists this:
Expasion slots: 1x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slot
the 5770 graphics card shows this:
Bus Type: PCI-Express 2.1
After googling, am I right in thinking that the 5770 will fit/work even though it is 2.1 will work in 2.0?

And thanks everyone for your replies, very helpful and much appreciated.
