Yep, saw that
OCUK are offering the 1024 MB hd4850 instead of the 512mb and at a cheaper price.

Was wondering how well this would run COD4? I'm a 360 gamer and want to get into PC gaming. I'm basically really really good at COD4 on the 360 and I just want to be able to play it on a PC without any lag or anything.

Anyone got any idea how much FPS's I can expect from this system?

Thanks!
- Matt

That PC will eat COD 4 for breakfast - more than 60FPS constantly i'm betting. Really depends on the resolution you are playing at, but it will play very well i'm sure.

As you highlighted, its a game that runs well on a 360. The PC version is very similar and well implemented, plus that PC hardware is orders of magnitude better than a 360. All in all, you should have a good gaming experience with most current games using that rig.

Ok nice,
I was looking @ the motherboard and it supports 1066 ram

( I'm a noob )

If I emailed OCUK would they add that instead for extra £+ or is it not worth it?

And I'd be playing @ 1080p on a 22" screen hopefully?

If you want to spend the extra money get a 4870 1GB, the faster RAM will only give you a small performance boost.

I don't know if they will do these kind of upgrades though as it is on offer, they may be trying to sell them all as they are. However, sending a request can't hurt.

The 4870 is a lot better, but I wouldn't buy it on top of the 4850. Its only worth the upgrade if you can get them to add it to your rig and charge you for the upgrade.

Ok,
the offer ends on Wednesday.
Wish they had instant chat operator's here haha

thanks for your help bro! :)

Thinking about ordering one of these which operating system should i go for ?

Bought this yesterday, but didn't get dispatched even though it says "10+ in stock" :P

Hopefully today and recieve it tomorrow!

I'l be using Windows 7 RC 64bit..

definately, it's an outstanding OS, for most people it's miles ahead of vista.

Best thing is it's free, just head over to MS website and download it.

good choice =)

There is a small fps gain in windows 7 over vista i've read, so it should do you good.

Awesome,
I'm not amazing with building computers etc I'm coming over from the 360 where I am pretty damn awesome lol. I got a feeling this switch is going to be hard. I need all the FPS's I can get lmao.

Windows 7 worth it?

I would say so, I used the 32bit first version of the beta when it came out on my old desktop and it improved performance even at that stage it seemed a lot more capable than Vista.

1 thing, I recommend getting the 64 bit version, because more and more nowadays programs are using the higher architecture, and the driver problem is close to non-existant, so 64 bit is the preffered choice.

Yeah, I got it anyway due to this having 4gb of ram :)

You reckon it will be dispatched today? Bought it @ 4.00 pm yesterday.

oh yeah, definatly. If I remember I ordered something in the afternoon once, and it arrived the next morning, fantastic OcUK =)
