Titan Onyx Gamer Machine CPU Temp Worry

Hi guys,

just bought a "Titan Onyx" Intel Core i7 920 D0 2.66GHz @ 4.00GHz Quad Core DDR3 System" from OCUK and have just put Win7 ultimate 64 on it. Have just been making sure it all works and thought I would prime95 it for a while to check the temps and stability as its a hell of an overclock.

CPU temp topped out at 85 degrees with Mobo at 50 thats measured with the OC palm unit that comes with it.

Is that too high? should I speak to OCUK about taking it back and sorting it out or is that about right due to the nature of the overclock.

Any help or comments appreciated

Thanks

Does seem on the warm side, download Core Temp and check against the OC Palm.

Motherboard temp looks fine.

85c is about right for prime in this weather on a Bundle. your bundle would have had a general voltage applied then sat on a test bed for 8 hours then shipped. Just play some games see if it fine no point wasting cpu life doing whats already done for you.
people like myself who get 71c on prime have fined tuned (if you will) voltage to get the min stable and case cooling is very good

Yes that was 85 degrees under full load with all 8 workers on prime running. Ok thanks for the help, as long as its not going to blow up ill have a play and see how it goes, maybe add some more cooling.

Just wanted to know if that was dangerously hot or safe.

Make sure we have saved a profile in there (99.9% of the time we do) and start lowering the voltage one or two notches at a time to reduce the heat. See how it goes.
