Hi guys is the above Titan Scythe a good deal for a BF4 machine running twin 1080p monitors?

I have a M500 240Gb SSD and a full copy of Windows 7 home premium to install as boot drive.

Are there any upgrades/downgrades I should action. I need a smaller white case for it also, any ideas?

Many thanks

Dave

EDIT: I should add that I can build it myself if I can do better with OCUK components. My current one is this. I know the GTX 770 is good, would a R9 280X be better?

Build it myself is no problem, the spec seemed close to my own sort of plans. Can you amazing experts beat it? I have the SSD and windows to add anyway.

Yes to overclock. £1000 max ideally. Midi tower or just above ok. Got to fit in an Ikea Ullrik under desk unit ideally.

Max depth 500mm ish, max height 590mm ish and wdth under 240mm

Thanks Fulax, great info.

How does the R9 290 compare to the 280X?

I saw that case but it doesn't have front 5.25 bays does it. I may actually have an external USB DVD writer so I may be able to cope without.

I have always assumed an ATX board would be better (bigger is better!) but is there any harm in going mATX?

Cheers and thanks again.

Dave

I see you use a Gigabyte sniper mb albeit a higher model. If I mixed and matched your two builds using an ATX mb are there any issues. I like the bargain RAM and the psu looks great. I will have to see what the availability of that case is though.

Is the i7 4770 worth the upgrade over the i5 and do you think I need to with water for cooling. I like the look of it although I haven't used it before and I have only seen the H80i and H100i.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks for the info I will juggle it around and post here for your final check if that ok. The case is my only decision now as not sure whether to go diskless? The time scales should be ok for its eta.

White RAM and that cooler are definites and I will be doing some photoshop so the i7 may be worth the extra.

Are the better cooling options on the 290 cards worth the extra?

Like the Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce or the Tri-X ones or are the 290s ok. I remember reading the 290X was much better with the newer cooling?

Cheers

Dave

Have been calculating! Still unsure which motherboard though. Your second build is closer to the mark I think. Is the gigabyte sniper better than the mATX MSI?

Trying to decide whether to go i7 or i5 still!

Cheers

Hi Fulax,

I have ordered! Can I check the 650watt Superflower will be adequate for a 290 GPU? Some seem to suggest I need a 750watt? Are the Supeflowers powerful enough to cope with an overclocked i5 and SSD and 1Tb hard drive?

Cheers

Dave

Excellent! I told OC how much of a help you were so well done. I had an issue with the RAM where they put the price up but they have honoured the cheaper price (I hope, am waiting for email!)

The case should be here end of the month/beginning of March.

Cheers, I will have a look at that. Built a few before but never one as nice as this! Seeing the builds on here I need to step up!!

It is actually for my son's birthday on March 14th so won't be until then.
