Titan X on X79 Running PCI-E 2.0 :(

Strangely I didn't realize I had the Titan X running on PCI-E 2.0 as I have PCI-E 3.0 forced in the bios.

I have tried the force Gen-3 patch from Nvidia but sadly it doesn't work either


Mobo bios and everything is updated but I can't get this specific card to run PCI-E 3.0

Any help would be appreciated!

even my GTX680s run PCI-E 3.0 on it so strange

That is the norm for the X79 Nik and you can run a fix to run it in 3.0 (which for SLI is advisable) but whilst on a single card, there isn't any gains, as the bendwidth isn't being saturated.

If you want 3.0 though, run the "force-enable gen 3" exe and restart the machine. Check in GPU-Z that it is running with the render test

Switched to Gen 3 in bios? Did you reboot after you ran the patch?

I have been doing this from 2012 when the patch was released.

Let me check the bios again just in case

That is mine after the patch but before I did that and restarted, it was 2.0. Make sure to run the patch as administrator as well noob.

PCI E 16/2 GEN 3
PCI E 16/3 GEN 3

I sold some junk AMD cards ( 2xR9-290s for 190 bucks ) in anticipation for the next Titan X, not my fault. Today I'm really not myself
