Titan X SLI and Power Limit Doubt

Hi guys

I just got 2 Titans X and was taking a look at MSI Afterburner

What the power limit does? I read something at the internet but it`s not 100% clear to me

Here i can improve from 100 (Default) to 110 (Max)

If i improve will it improva my performance? Even without changing the core clock or the memory clock or voltage... i do not wanna OC the vga`s but i saw that with the power limit we have a temp limit that in linked and with 100% (Default) is 83C and with 110% goes to 91C

So i`m confused now, is it safe just to improve the power limit? Woth it? And what about if my VGA goes up to 83C what will happen? The clock will go down as well?

Please guy i need advices to what to do here

Thanks

Someone else can probably explain it better than me, but basically power limit is the total amount of power the card is allowed to consume under GPU boost, according to its TDP.

So 110 power limit will mean the card will boost according to the temperature target, GPU usage or 110% TDP power consumption.

To find out if you're being constrained by the power limit, check PerfCap in GPU-Z or similar software. It will be marked as 'Pwr' if you're constrained by power limit.

Also add a custom fan profile. I found the stock profile woefully inadequate, I don't get anywhere close to 83 now even oc'd.

I have had my TX set to 110% with max temp set at 91c. It will obviously give you more headroom to oc. However I have mine set up on custom water so never gets above 50 degrees. These cards clock very well and you can get some serious gains.

Does it worth in my case with my sli here to increase to 110 instead of 100? What will I gain in the real world? Can I damage something doing that

Thanks

I use it alongside MSI afterburner and watch the temps

A lot of modern cards can detect when Furmark is used and will throttle down which defeats the point of using it.

Those cards that don't throttle down run the risk of being pushed too far and failing running software that has got nothing in common with gaming.

Furmark is not even a very good stress test when it does run correctly as there is very little variation.

upping the power limit should allow for higher boost clocks and smoother performance as the shouldn't throttle due to lack of power so I would say it worth it. I flashed my titan X to allow for 135% power limit certainly helped it stop dropping and throttling the core clock when pushed high.

As other people have said 110% lets the card draw more power so it can boost further. You can unlink the temp/power if you wish so you can have 110% power and say 85 degrees. I have both my cards overclocked at +230 core and +350 memory at 110% power and 87 degrees limit with the top card at 80% fan and the bottom card at 60% fan using afterburner. Your not going to harm your cards at all in the time your probably going to own them. Overclocking them for 4k is an absolute must but lower resolutions probably not needed.
