Titanium Backup - Restoring Apps Really Slowly?

I've been restoring a few apps from some backups within titanium backup, and recently they've been going incredibly slowly. At the moment it's restoring an N64 emulator, so only a few MBs, but it's been going for over an hour now.

Has anybody encountered this before, or know what's going on? It's a Galaxy S3 on 4.1, the backups were made when the phone was on 4.0, so could that be causing the issues?

I had problems installing some backed up apps on my s2 when going from gingerbread to ics. The apps not being compatible with ics was the issue I believe. They'd just get stuck on installation, I'd normally cancelled after a few minutes though.

Ive always found that coming from a different rom/firmware its best to redownload the apps and restore just the data.

I've carried my apps for the best part of 2 years now covering 2 different phones (SGS/SII) and not really had this problem apart from once on a funky CM rom. It just kept getting stuck at the first app, so I tired another rom and it was fine. What is said above could be true and you can try avoid installing just the apps it freezes on.

I found out what the problem was in the end.

It was happening on all apps, with and without data, so it wasn't simply a backup that had got itself corrupted. I changed the "app processing mode" in the preferences to "auto, indirect", and also the "restore backups to..." setting was for some reason set to external media, I've now changed it to the "default location".

One (or a combination) of those two changes seem to have fixed it. Not sure why the settings got themselves messed up as I can't remember changing them at all. Oh well!
