Stand by to leave cell #1 - TJC coming through. Credit granting is going slow - almost 5000 pending - enough to give a total credits of over 8K.

We are a couple of hundred behind on granted credits ATM - and I know you have WU's - so it won't be a walk over I'm presuming. I only have my home fleet on this project - so 3 AMD64's (well one lowly semperon 64 and 2 real ones).

These 192's vary quite a lot - between 3 hours and 2+ days :D

Let the stomping commence...

Yeah, the 192s are evil incarnate. Fortunately most of my machines run with little or no intervention, but one of them doesn't, so if it doesn't finish soon, I'll have to hit the ol' 'Detach' button on those. :(

As for the stats, I've done pretty well with a year at the top unchallenged. :D

Ahh - but how much work has there been in that year - precious little. I just wish they'd make the return times more reasonable (though I guess its the nature of the beast that they don't know until its crunched) rather than the 1 day or so it seems to be - all my BOINCVIEW screens are red (though they say they will grant credit in the forums).

Still, 12 months is 12 months - we were world#1 for only 2.5 months until tricky-dicky kicked us off the pedestal :D

Its possible - we're 5th at the moment (once credit is granted) - at around 8,300 - but that assumes lots of slackers - which isnt going to totally happen, and I'm only - at present - using the home machines on this but that could change :D

Watch this space - presently our highest world position is 6th in uFluids - but currently running that project down having done 100K credits - so it will start its fall from grace.

Having been world #1 in seti for 2.5 months at the start - we reached 2,000,000 credits - and have since slipped to 173rd - the big guns (and hacked clients) have come out to play.

Saw your post on the BURP boards.

Yeah, there wasn't a lot they could do about that. The S192 WUs were taking so long for many people that they hit hard limits in the client and aborted. Plus, at the rate they were going, we'd probably still be crunching them when the Olympics arrived in London. Having workunits that run for days without checkpointing isn't exactly friendly either.

Unfortunate, yes, Frustrating, yes, but as the project isn't even in Alpha yet, let alone Beta or anything else, these things are going to happen from time to time. The session proved unworkable and they had to kill it. I'm also guessing that BOINC isn't set up to retrpsoectively grant credit where a workunit hasn't reached quorum, so they couldn't go back and grant your 4,000 cobblies once the session was killed.

I've had a few workunits go south too, bue due to joining late in the game that's only one or two, not 10. I even spotted one workunit where it appears that 42,000 cobblestones had been claimed.

Anyway, I just killed all the session 192 stuff and moved on. One thing's for sure, it makes our little competition a lot more interesting. :D

then theres the thread someones started about problems with session 195 - since the wu's now claim they will take 20 hours - but take less than 1 - my FX-60 is doing them in 30-40 mins - so you only get 1 or 2 wu's downloaded and then it sits idle :(

It's due to the 192's setting an inordinately big correction factor. Get yourself a new host ID and that problem should go away.

I got the advantage of babysitting a shedload of 193 workunits last night, so that's brought my correction factor down to something sensible and I always get 5-10 workunits, which seems to be enough to last out the 5 hours.

Hang on, what am I doing helping out the competition? :D

Sure - they shut down on 1st july - so should be getting towards 20K by then - if the WU's hold out - they seem to be getting low - down to 400 to send at present - and some of those are WU's I've already done - but need sending to someone else so I get my pending credit - I have over 1,000 pending again.

Oh my. Maybe I spoke too soon then, although it's now somewhat closer than it was. And I note that 5 out of 6 of the WUs you listed last night now have granted credit.

I believe they're just running the queue down now, so what they've got is what we've got.

Yes, they seem to be running it down - theres 10 sessions waiting to go - and no WU's released - one cruncher out now and the other two will be out by the time I get up tomorrow - all credit has now been graned - but much less than the claimed credit - approx 500 rather than the 1000+ that was claimed - ah well. Still, my FX-60 is top of the "computers" chart on RAC.

Time to give some other project some attention on home machines - the work machines are on predictor for the next couple of weeks - pushing to 750K.

M.

p.s. Bought a Turion 64 ML-40 tonight - only 35w TDP - 2.2GHz and 1MB Cache - to replace my semperon 2600 - should be nice, hopefully here after the weekend :D

I'm still in on most if not all hardware, so I get the chance to play catchup. I'll issue a precautionary PARP, just in case. I'll probably retire for good once this lot is done though (at least until it gets into Beta anyway).

Either way, between us we've dragged the OcUK team kicking and screaming back up to 3rd. Can't be bad. :D

Actually, I think I'll make that a bonafide honest to goodness wholesome PARP. I think I have you firmly in the crosshairs. One rig seems to have gone down at home though and another is unreacahable (not configured for remote access).

See you when I get home (sometime around 9AM probably :().

Humph. Someone got some more credit overnight. Depends what happens next but I still might be able to catch up as a few of my cruncherers got a bit ahead of themselves.

Anyway, dead rig resurrected. 12 hours work lost there. Curse the lack of checkpointing. :(

you're catching me at present now I'm out of work and they seemingly don't intend to release any of the work thats waiting - the gaps a little less than 1000 now - I think it got upto 1500-1600 at one point - so I guess you'll close it down a bit/lot more before we all go to sleep again :D

M.

$^&#*%&* - looks like you'll keep that lead until mid-september then - unless some more WU's come out before then - well done mark - took 8 machines - 4 dual-core or with ht to beat my lowly (except for the FX-60) fleet of 3.

I'll await round 2 - when the HTTP MCE machine has its ML-40 replcing the semperon.

Maybe we'll take Team "Finland" down next time too - only 9K ahead of us :D

M.

Most of the work was done on four machines. The two *nixes barely contributed (one took days to complete a WU and the other just crashed them all), and two more were added on Monday to try and close the gap before the work stopped.

In other words, as it turned out, I could have done it straight 4 v 4, and yet again, I proved that Yonah (and therefore Conroe) rocks. :D

I note that the server is currently down. If it comes back I'll be able to widen the gap by a thousand or two (and close the gap on Finland). If it doesn't, well, no loss really as the work was already done.
