Just watched a few videos on other peoples home server setups on youtube, and one person had a stack of 1TB WD Greenpower HDDs for his, and enabled something called TLER on the drives.
This apparently stops drives from being kicked out the RAID because a controller only waits 7 seconds, and the desktop hdd does its own error recovery which takes longer?
Bit of info here: http://www.techworld.com/storage/features/index.cfm?featureid=1019
Can anyone provide any more info on this? Does this apply to Software RAID i.e. via an Embedded Linux on a NAS like a QNAP, or is it purley Hardware RAID controllers?
Just wondering whether I should enable TLER on my new 1TB Greenpowers.
Thanks
