Hi,

I'm after a 19" LCD monitor which will be used primarily for gaming with some internet/office work. I will do little or no movie watching on it.

As I understand it TN film monitors are cheaper, relatively fast but not suited to movie playback while MVA panels are pricier, not as fast, but better all round monitors. Is that roughly correct?

I am looking at the Hyundai L90D+ as I need height adjustment. Any other screens You could recommend? I am looking in the £300-£350 price bracket.

Cheers

VP930? MVA are slower, but they're still suitable for most people to game on. Ghosting is very subjective, some people will see loads of it on the quickest screens, and some others will see none on a relatively slow screen. That's hardly surprising though, my dad can't tell the difference between a game running 30 fps and 60 fps, or running in 640*480 or 1600*1200 :D I guess it depends how observant you are. Getting back to MVA though, the viewing angles are much better though, plus they do a deeper black, and they are true 24-bit colour, whereas TN screens are 18-bit with dithering.

That's me, 'Dithering' as to which TFT to go for!!!! Still can't make up my mind!! Don't want to spend a lot as there is a baby on the horizon!!! Very much like the AG Neovo F419 19''. Also like the Samsung 913 but it has no DVI and my Graphics card has DVI and i would like to use that even thought the 913 is superb with its VGA connection!!

Decisions!! Gee.

if you aren't watching movies on the screen the restrictive viewing angles and noisy movie playback aren;'t really going to be a problem to you. If you're trying to save a bit of money then a TN panel like the L90D+ would be just as suited to your needs. Other models to perhaps consider are the Samsung 913N and 930BF
