Hi All , I have been reading up on TFT Monitors and still i,m puzzled what to get ha! I am not a gamer , but love to watch dvds so am i right in saying that it does not matter about the response time ? and is an IPS screen better quality pictures / viewing ?

I would suggest having a read of this for some well written descriptions of the technologies.

Indeed, IPS would be better for watching videos than a TN panel, response time will be not an issue with modern IPS monitors playing video content (look for less than 10ms, almost all are). However, some of the VA technologies offer even better black levels that IPS - so they would also be very good for video watching.

Finally, it is also worth considering a proper TV if you are mainly watching videos and and considering paying the premium for an IPS monitor. So long as you get one with a 1080p resolution and a decent write-up the viewing experiece will likely be better than a PC monitor, mainly due to the size. Many of the LCD TVs do use IPS or VA panels, they just use much larger pixel pitches than in PC monitors.

thanks very good info , so what good 26 inch lcd t.v are around ?

Yes, it is, and a very nice one at that. Here is a review.

Yeah very good review , just alittle bit concerned about the 8ms response time ,is this ok for dvd playing or is lower better ? but must say i,m very impressed with this monitor so any more feedback will help ;)

I wouldn't be concerned about the 8ms response time. That review has a section called "Responsiveness and Gaming" which shows the monitor does fine - and the "movies and video" part of the review says:

In general it seems to be on-par with the Dell U2410 in terms of responsiveness in games and movies. That monitor is great for both of these uses.

yeah thanks i feel it is a very good buy to ..
