Hi All Maybe a stupid thing ,but apart from the monthly price what is the best service either Be Unlimited or Be Pro ?

How many threads do you need to start?

Be Pro does Annex M and Unlimited doesn't, so if your line's good enough you'll get a higher upload rate. Other than that, there's not much between them - the option of more IPs (for a fee) and a static IP (which IIRC used to be standard with Unlimited too). Pro used to get separate support, but they got merged together.

Sorry about the posts  so would i notice any difference on downloading stuff ? or are they pretty much even ? thanks again for your reply ,coz i know i went into posting overkill ..sorry again ;)

As tolien mentioned, Be Pro adds Annex M support which just means you get an increased upload speed if your line is good enough. Unlimited is up to 1.3mbit up, Pro is up to 2.5mbit up. Switching to Annex M for the increased upstream will take a bit of sync rate from the downstream - I believe on average you lose around 1mbit, sometimes more.

If you go with Pro you don't have to switch Annex M on - it's off by default. So really it just comes down to whether you want multiple static IPs.

thanks again

okay thanks so very little between them ,and would u sasy the majority of people who go with LLU go with the unlimited service ?

The majority of people won't see any difference even with Annex M enabled so I'd expect they'll go with the cheaper service.

Be has gone down the toilet a lot since the beginning of the year. However, download speeds are exceptionally good.

Ping during peak times are......crap (100ms+) with A LOT of packet loss so gaming is practically impossible after 6pm

So if your a Non Gamer and do downloading and a bit of web surfing its going to be good ?

there was a 2-3 week period where i was getting crappy pings during peak times, but now things are back to normal and my pings are excellent (30-50ms) at any time of the day or night

If that is what you call excellent then fair enough, I personally wouldn't recommend be at all at the moment. Used to get sub 20ms pings all the time on European/UK servers, now I'd be lucky to get 50Ms at off peak times!

Speeds are still good, but packet loss and latency are terrible.

I'm leaving be in a couple of months when my exchange gets BT's ADSL2 stuff put in and will probably be going to Zen or someone else who charge enough to keep the riff raff out but not so much that it's silly.

20ms during games or the ping to the server

I'm talking about actual game reported ping time when looking at player stats...

What you neglected to say is that these problems are currently primarily affecting only a cluster of exchanges around Southampton and (I believe) Bristol.

I'm getting 16ms regular pings to a (non-gaming) server in London right now. I'd call that perfectly acceptable. I got 750KBps sustained transfer earlier. I'd call that the same.

Indeed. £40 cashback last time I checked.

Still would have appreciated it if I'd timed things a little better and avoided the £24 connection fee though. :(

Yeah I should have mentioned: If you are connected to one of the dodgy exchanges then it's best to wait and see what BE comes up with.

The thing is its more than just those listed exchanges, they are the worst ones but by and large the whole network is not in the best of shapes at the moment.

A quick browse around be's own forums (members only afaik) would show this.
