To build or not to build

In february I will be getting a bonus so am thinking about upgrading my current pc.
At the mo I have a P4 2.4 with a gig of RAM on xp and a radeon x800xl

Is it worth waiting a while to see what happens with vista/dx10 etc etc?
I reckon on having about a grand(ish) to spend on everything except a case and monitor.

Any thoughts?

Definately worth upgrading, but wait till Feb and see what the buzz is about then if I were you, with a grand to spend you could land yourself and awesome system Might be worth waiting till March and seeing what graphics cards do, though!

That's something only you can decide - is a new computer the best thing you can do with £1,000? Better than say a couple of holidays, a fancy camera or Hi-Fi, new TV, laptop, towards a new car etc... think of all the other things you could do with the money. If a new PC is what you'd value the most go for it.
