With all the reviews good and bad about the RX 480 im wondering if its worth getting the reference card? Im fairly new to pc gaming as i have always played consoles and at this moment in time got no plans on clocking just straight forward playing games.

For me it's easy because I am at least 3 months away from a build. But there are enough concerns around power usage and the cooler on the reference card for me to want a good AIB card. We have no idea on cost for those but the comments suggest that we are going to be looking at cards clocked at around 1400mhz out of the box with the right power connectors not to throttle. As they are it you might be better off with an EOL 390x as there are some great bargains to be had on those. If in 2 weeks the 480 is 15% faster because of AIB clocks and another 5% because of decent drivers you are looking at a very good card.
It also depends if you want to game above 1080p.
