So I'm torn between keeping my single 290 or grabbing another and going CF to get better fps on 1440p. So my question is, will my CPU be up to scratch or will it bottleneck the two cards? Im running a 3570k clocked at 4.4Ghz.

I don't really fancy upgrading to an i7 if I don't need to.

What PSU etc. Can that cope??

3570 @ 4.4 should be enough CPU power for 2 x 290 in most games.

As above it depends on the games you play, but if you want the max settings most peeps go for 2.

But your i5 will not be up to the job and bottleneck.

Ok, so the games I am playing atm are: BF4, Planetside 2, Elder Scrolls online, Insurgency.. obviously the last two run fine on a single card.

My PSU is a Superflower Leadex Platinum 1000W so it'll handle two cards (I bought it with this scenario in mind).

Go for it if you want the extra power for ultra/max settings, your PSU would be fine as you say and I'd imagine a 3670K @ 4.4 should cope too (it may bottleneck in certain titles, but not many).

Do it. Mantle will treat your i5 four core cpu likes its a 6 core cpu with hyper threading. 290 crossfire gets my vote. You'll need it to max BF4 out at 1440P.

I'll see how CF performs with what I've got and decide if I need an i7.
Would an i7 3770k be fine or should I be looking to upgrade to something more recent?
