1) Chop for newer/different
2) MORE POWERRRRRR

Hey all!

So today was at litchos, again, I know lol surprise there. I have been mulling over my options with the GTR and I am stuck in a bit of a dilemma.

I have someone lined up to take my car right now. And that would be stripping everything off it and putting it back to stock. The car, from what I've been told would then effectively be warehoused until it starts gaining value, with the earlier, rarer ones (titanium color with cream interior) such as mine being snapped up. Moving to a newer car means I cant get the titanium color, not the orange, so would be stuck most likely with a wrap or daytona blue.

This would then let me put a significant amount down towards a newer model (with me adding 5-10k), I could pick up between a 14 and a 16 plate for that money, with 30k less miles on the clock. Or, finance wise it would give me a total budget of 80k or so.

If I keep the car, it will effectively be keeping it for the foreseeable future, going from current GTR, to old, and eventually to classic. If I go down this route it will involve building the car to a 900HP 800ftlbs monster.

Honestly, im torn between both options. So, Motors, what would you do?

After talking to you at the previous OcUK HQ meet (not the last one), I’d say it’s time to move on from the GTR and get something you’ll regret not buying whilst you had the chance (iirc you lusted after a Murcielago). Sure you may end up with less power, but (and I’m sure I’ll get slated for this) contrary to popular belief, power isn’t everything.

What does the newer model actually get you, that you feel you're missing out on, that your current one doesn't have? That's what you need to ask yourself imo. If it's just a newer numberplate and a lower odo count, to me that doesn't seem worth it.

I don't know the ins and outs of GTRs but they haven't fundamentally changed have they? I'd be minded to think as per what paradigm said, maybe consider something different entirely?

Exterior and interior changes. The stock engines also produce more power. Suspension changes. New gearbox.

I will do this regardless

Only on major updates, the move I do wouldnt be so much.

No difference to me if Im building

Will be going aftermarket

No difference to me when built.

Sounds to me like you've got the decision made already! Dooooo it. Doooo it naaaaaowww.

Doesn't sound like a newer one offers much to you then, which ought to answer the question. 900bhp.

Not that it is your problem as such but I don't think your generation GTR, even the rarer configs, is going to appreciate quite like some of the older ones :s

It is quite a dilemma though - even though your generation one is IMO the best one they've made I'd probably be itching to buy a newer one if I was in your position.

Which floats your boat, having a Lamborghini on your drive or a 900 bhp Nissan?

The lies the answer to your dilemma.

Wouldn't you only feel the advantage of 900bhp on the very biggest tracks like Silverstone over your current car? Whereas you'd feel the difference in a new car every day

Depends how it puts it down (and what kind of driving you are doing) - if you can get upto speed quicker that can make a massive difference on tracks where you are bursting speed on shorter straights.

Right guys,

Thanks for the input, after some really tough deliberations I have decided to.......

keep it, for now :)
