Hey guys, just a general question and a little help convincing me on this one..
The community on Live seems more full than PC gaming these days, or at least the games i play...i would mainly be using the 360 for racing games such as PGR and TDU, and would love to race with the friendly guys of OcUK...

few questions though, would i be able to use my TFT on this (hanns-g 19" WS) also what do i need for Live! to work.

I know its been done before probably, so if no one replys i know why :)

Edit...and what type of package would i need in general...as theres a butt load of different ones.

get the premium pacakge as it comes with everything you'll need.

Will need to get a VGA cable to plug it into your TFT

And all you need is broadband access, has a network port at the back or you can buy a wireless access point for it.

right im so confused, there are too many things to do with this console its really not that easy to choose the right things, ive been reading conflicting reports about all sorts of the 360, from the qualitys of cables you can buy and all sorts of things to do with the Live! stuff, like silver you can play on multiplayer but Gold you can....and all this is just too confusing for me to understand at the moment, so if anyone could give me a break down of what i would need to do, what i want to do in original post that would be grand.

Awful answer mate is that 99.9% of your questions can be answered within minutes of this forum section.

Within the last 2 weeks there's been 5 or 6 posts from "new" buyers asking a multitude of questions, and I fear another one isn't going to give you the answers you're after because it's people going over old ground again.

However...

Short sweet answers are:

Live Gold v Live Silver - http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/xbox360/memberships.htm

Cable quality varies. Personally, I'd stick with the Microsoft Branded cables. They aren't THAT more expensive than the 3rd party ones are that extra couple-a-quid is often worth it.

Using a TFT would be a piece of cake, just buy the VGA cable (about £20), plug one end into the 360 and the other into the monitor.

For sound, you'll need something like this:

Which I believe comes with the MS VGA cable (or it DID do). Failing that, and seeing as you're in Doncaster, you can nip to donnie market on a Saturday and see the cheap electrical shop near the fish market where he'll sell you one for about .75p (pick us up some prawns while you're at it, and a pork pie from cooplands).

Once you've got that, you plug the two 'other' cables from the VGA cable into it, and then plug that into either:

a) Your speakers
b) The "Line In" of your PC.

Using method...

a) You can listen to the sound of the xbox through your speakers without having to turn on your PC.
b) You can listen to the sound of the xbox through your speakers but you WILL NEED TO turn ON your PC.

As for the package? No idea there exactly what you mean, if you mean Core or Premium, then go for a Premium as you've a wireless controller and harddrive all in the box.

Yeah wait to the PS3 comes out, LIKE WHY?

Loads of good reasons to get a 360 very few have bought one and been dissapointed and with the upcoming games its very obvious its only going to become a stronger gaming platform.

This is the sort of comment that turns threads into fanboy crap. If you're going to say something like that, at least provide some reasoning.

Few places have some good offers, gamestation do the premium console with PGR3, 2 wireless controllers and the game of your choice for £309. Another does the premium, PGR3, FFXI, Dead or Alive and King Kong as well as 2 wireless controllers for £300 but they are curently out of stock (ultimate fantasy pack).

Why? And don't say something along the lines of 'It is better duh'

Sounds about right.

You also get 1 months free membership on Xbox live so you can use that to "demo" it. Personally I recommend getting a full year.

You get 1 month gold membership with the console. I'd use that and buy a 1 year card (cheaper in the long run) from ebay of something in a couple of weeks.

But, aye, looks good :) (but get Dead Rising as well!)

I wouldnt get any games to start with. You can download demos for free on the Marketplace. Then choose one you like. Or better still sign up for a online DVD game trial and then use that.

I dont regret buying my 360. Its much more suited to me life than a PC.

eg. Pick up and play, in the living room, can play with friends online easier.

 the PS3 games are £75 each?!?!?!?!? they kept that quiet :p

anyway, yes get a 360, get a premium, you should get a bundle which meets your needs quite easily ;)
