So I'm currently in the market for two new monitors. For years I've used a combination of LCD's, one 22" and one 15" and I think it's about time I spent some dosh in this area.

The main uses these days are book writing, coding, and occasionally gaming. The rough budget is £1-£200 per screen, and I'd like two.

The first option I've looked at is to go full hog Dell IPS with either the P2414H or even better, the U2414H. I like both, the IPS aspect interest me, and the adjustable stand is a must, but more important the quality of both from what I can find are great, once you've gotten over the IPS bleed.

The second option is to go for a normal LED, something like a Samsung S24C450BW, or basically just any LED (I've not done as much research here as I've always figured I "should" upgrade to IPS).

So my question is, first off is IPS right for me? And second, if it is, should I stick with the P2414H, or go for the U2414H at a cost of £25 per monitor (£50 total).

Thanks all :).

Not really sure whether IPS is right for my type of work or not though, need to know that first before I can pick one I guess?

I find IPS great for that sort of work. I use it myself for coding/ graphic design. Much cleaner and notice I can spend a lot longer staring at the code before headache sets in.

I assume the greater contrast makes it much easier to read. As for backlight bleed mine seems sporadic. Darker screens are much more noticeable.

Gilval any chance of a pic of the three together? Been looking for a decent eyefinity setup and struggle with all the choices.

Thanks, an interesting take on it :)

Sadly I think a 27" wouldn't work due to the layout of the desk :( The Studio is an interesting option though, I'd probably want it in 24" (Which sadly OcUK don't sell :( ) But will have a look and see how it stacks up, cheers :)
