Yes.
Here is my 1440p 27" Dell next to my 23" 1080p LG this was before calibration but you can see how much more of the pic you can see on the Dell. Photos look stunning at 1440p.

I have also just recently got myself a 7970 sapphire Radeon Vapor X, hopefully 1 will be powerful enough for gaming
