To OS or not to OS

Im going to buy a custom built laptop, but having only ever owned desktops i dont know where its going to be less hassle to get an OS pre installed.
So my questions are.

1. Is it worth the 60quid id save by having Vista pre-installed
2. Is Vista worth it when i have Xp here

it can be a pain in the ass to get drivers for XP for laptops, i've found some components with pre built machines to only have support for vista drivers :/

not sure if you'll have the same problem tho
