Hello all

Quick question / dilemma...

I've recently moved out, and as such have to relocate my Pc...naturally I brought my big desk with me :D

However....I am wondering whether or not to put my PC on the floor now as it seems to take up more room, because I've had to position it differently due to the window etc etc

Do i? Don't i? Naturally things like dust spring to mind, along with the guinea pigs the other side of the room! Although they are in a cage so shouldn't cause much mess.

I have a Lian-Li case god knows what model it's been far too long...But it has an intake from the bottom for the psu....

Any pointers please feel free to comment :)

Hmm well thats quite an easy question really i can answer. Have had my Lian li on the floor for nearly a year and aslong as u have fan filters installed i found no problem. However i'm not sure if you have watercooling its a great idea but then i'm part way through mine (so its come up onto the desk to help with dust (had to keep the case open till i have the cash to mod the case properly). But anyway this is not really a worry anyway as dust isn't gonna kill ur system just check it out every couple of months or so and get an air can and just spray off any crap.

Having a similar dilemma myself, except cause by a new monitor is due and will take up all of my desk real estate. I was planning on just building a cheap stand out of MDF to keep my case off the floor by a few inches to keep it from sucking dust straight from the carpet. Could solve your problem, and could even be integrated into the desk somehow.

An inch or two off the floor is good - at the very least on a bit of old plywood.
Can make a major differance to internal dust collection.

Hmm true, never thought of that...

I'll have to remove the wheels off the bottom, otherwise i'll kick it off no doubt :p

Stick a piece of rubber, or vinyl, under the wheels. The brake is fine, but the wheels are so smooth the case still shifts! :D

Just put it on the floor to be honest, give it a clean once in a while it'll be fine :) Its good to get it out of the way too (from the top of the desk). Becomes quieter too!

Thanks all :)

I'll probably move it down eventually...it's just because I have lack storage space for random things so my desk is cluttering...

Ah well, we'll see :)

Have a Lian Li A70F here, kept on the floor which is covered in vinyl, keeps dust to a minimum as the floor is so easy to clean, may stick a set of castors on it to raise it up a bit higher.

i have a lian li, had it about 4 months or summit, prob less. i had to move it off my desk into the floor. since it has a dust filter on the bottom however, no dust at all gets in there. i also have the 2 feet ontop of bits of wood as my carpet is quite thick and without the wood you cant even get your fingers under there, and dont want my psu over heating.

I've got my Lian Li case sat on a piece of laminate flooring which I've cut to the exact size so that each foot sits on the corner of the laminate, means you can't really see the laminate unless you crouch down and have a good look.

Was wondering the same about mine. Going to build a small wooden platform with a hollow centre so I can hide some power cables inbelow. The Fractal case has opening on the bottom so I want to cover it up. Dust filters help greatly though.
