As above, I have been out of the PC building game for a long time, as you can see from my current GPU. Looking at recommendations for a replacement, I'm a casual gamer these days however I run 3 monitors when live radio broadcasting thus card need to run them, max screen res middle 1680 x 1050, left and right 1920 x 1080. So not looking for a monster card, just an updated one. I prefer AMD, only because it is what is running on my pc.
Sorry CPU is an i7 950, ignore sig box.

Thanks in advance.

what's your budget?

An Rx 580 from AMD would be nice upgrade for less than £200

If you want to spend between £300 and £350 than the 5700 would be a good option and give you a little future proofing as well.

That's a crap price for a 570, I paid that for a brand new RX580 8GB months ago.

The RX590 at £149 is very hard to beat right now, failing that the 5500XT is worth taking a look at.
no to the 5500xt.

if your budget is £150 the the 590 is what to go for. if spending more then the 1660 super @ £200 is the next step up.

The 5700 is about twice as fast as the R9 290. If that's what you have. I own 2 R9s, so i know a bit. Cheap replacement actually.

BTW, the 5700 uses less power than the R9 290, especially when undervolted.

Op, mentioned ignore sig. The only R9 200 AMD cards i know of are the 290 and 290X.

290x was absolute the top end, there's 280x, 280, 270x, 270, 265 260..............down to.........220

So tbh without knowing the model we can't advise but if he is a casual gamer so I'd expect it's probably mid range and a 590 would be a big upgrade.

The OP has to come back and clear up what his budget is and what GPU he currently has.

His Sig says GTX 260, even though he says ignore sig he was talking specifically about the CPU. So my guess is that he doesn't realise his GPU is actually from Nvidia.

The 290 is roughly the same performance as an RX480 so a RX590 is really the minimum card you can get that would give anything close to a proper upgrade.

Anything below the r9 270 wasn't an r9.

Anyway much more important will be his monitors and what connections they have.

Two at 1080p and one 1680x1050, We need the opening poster to give us more info, for a solid recommendation.

Hi
I have more or less the same upgrade question.
I am currently using a R9 270X according to GPU-Z (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/gigabyte-r9-270x-windforce-3x-oc.b2518) and I am wondering how to upgrade it best?

The rest of my setup is a i5-4570, 16GB ram, 1 TB SDD disk on a H87-HD3 motherboard.
I had hoped that upgrading the GPU is the easiest way to improve my gaming performance.

Grateful for any advise on upgrading the GPU.

Cheers

RX580 or RX590 would be a good jump in performance. 5600XT/5700 should be fine with that CPU as well but the RX590 mentioned earlier is a fantastic price.

could not find it at this price anymore - seems to be around £230 now. do you think its still the best GPU for the price?
would you recommend just going for the GPU or do I need to upgrade my whole setup?
