To Replace Windows XP Home edition with XP Pro

I want to replace the Windows XP Home edition supplied by Dell, with a recently purchased XP Pro edition OEM version
Is this possible without a complete restart. I.E by installing it like an update.
I want to use the Windows Backup function, which I know is in System Tools on XP Pro but I cannot find it on my Home edition

You may be able to do an upgrade install, but not installed as an update per se.

I'm not sure if Home has Windows backup, if it's not there have a look in the system components in add/remove programs.

XP home OEM that came preinstalled on my pc runs windows backup. Must be somewhere.
