OK, already posted this in another thread but I didn't want to hijack.

This morning I received a Sapphire 4870 512mb. The one I ordered had the stock cooler, the one that came had the same cooler as the toxic edition.

All was working fine until I loaded up furmark to test it.

Within about 10 seconds the card was at 90'C and actually sounded louder than the stock cooler, within a minute the card was at 100'C so I closed furmark.

My old 4870 with stock cooler was both quieter and cooler running.

Is this normal for this card or should I RMA?

yeah I had that too I ordered the ref but got one with the toxic cooler no idea what the deal was there.

at first it was runinig hotter than my stock (can't rember what I did to sort it) but I just put the fans up I think one was to about 50% (60% on my stock cos its eating my case wires:eek:)

btw the HD48XX can run happy at temps over 100c they have been tested to do so, not sure what the max is I think its like 120c or something can't rember but AMD have tested them up to some high temps.
