Got my Gigabyte R9-280x a month ago and its nice windforce cooler makes a racket sometimes (like 5% of the time). I'm away at uni so didn't return it.
I'm gonna be back for a month over Christmas so may return it but its a quite good clocker ~ 1175MHz on the core (didn't test the memory)

My question is: if I returned it, will the replacement be the new sexy version (2.0) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4845#ov which OCUK are now showing on the site.
or the (1.0) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4793#ov which tbh isn't as nice but is the one I currently have? (It shows on my order history that mine is the 2.0 version even tho at the time it was the 1.0)

Also, when I try to make the fan make its annoying sound, It doesn't. So does OCUK test the problem or will they just replace and will it cost anything for me to return??

Thanks, Greeny :)

before you start wanting rev 2.0, make sure the cooler is actually better than 1.0

with GTX760 Windforce, the 1.0 had 3 heatpipes and direct touch, whereas 2.0 had 2 heatpipes and copper plate, so it was sexier, but worse.

Same heatsink I believe, different cooler + black pcb. But anyway, I'm not bothered, the noise is a annoying so either would do.

That's the noise it makes, phone recording so probably poor audio, theres a lot less air flow noise and more clickyness in real life. happens at about 3000 rpm ~ 70% fan speed

Define 'racket' and 5% of the time sounds standard if it's getting really hot.

Have you set the fan speeds yourself, will keep it to a speed you're happy with sound wise as long as the temps are OK.

Check the video for noise, albeit not a very accurate representation.

I have a custom fan speed profile through afterburner that runs at 70% max and this keeps my temps below 75 degrees in most games. dropping the speed to 60% pushes my temps around 80 which I would prefer not to be sat constantly at.

Also, the fan will randomly make the clicking noise at other speeds other that 65%-80% but it just wont do it for sustained periods. At 65-80% it could click for a few minutes before subsiding.
