I'm trying to decide whether it is worth my while to have my old exam grades specified on my CV or not. I got a 2.1 at Uni which i will obviously leave on there, but for A/AS Levels i have only CDE and CE respectively. On the other hand my GCSEs are all Bs with one A and a double C for Science.

(I know a lot of people will say take the GCSEs off completely but i have the space so may as well make use of it and keep them on)

I'm think it's good that at least i'm being honest, and hopefully they should take more notice of my 2.1 anyway, but then again if i take them off they wont even think of it. Or they could think i did even worse than i did!

Thanks.

Just say x A levels, x AS Levels, x GCSEs. After your first job or two you'll probably not put your degree classification either.

put uni on in full

then just put

2001: 3 A Levels
1999: 8 GCSEs (Grades A-C, including English & Mathematics)

or similar.

take the gcses off entirely, even if you say you don't want to keep them on.

Most places want to know you have at least c grade in English and maths at GCSE, regardless what you have done since.

Also as his A level grades aren't brilliant, be economical with the truth. Hence
3 x A levels.

If you have space, put them on.
Or if you don't want to put your grades down, just say 3 A levels, 2 AS levels, 8 GCSEs etc.
If you have a degree, then GCSEs don't tend to be relevant, but A levels sometimes are.

Edit: Maybe I should refresh before posting :(

I may as well be specific! This is how my grades are listed. Above this is details of my degree (grade, description of key modules). I'm very happy with my CV, it just occurred to me that i may be better off removing my grades as the A/AS ones are not particularly great.

Here's how they are now, i think i may just remove the grades in brackets, and somehow specify that all my GCSEs are A-C.

I wouldn't be specific. Your more likely to be put in the bin.

what happens if you are identical to someone else yet they have C's at "a" levels. There likely to be picked for the interview. where if you just say you have 3 "A" levels then you have a greater chance. This is what I've been told from professionals.

What's an E at AS level?

As in one better than an F or as in Excellent

E for excellent, D for dynamite ;)

Cheers m'dears.. i think i'll remove the grades. I dont think they're doing me any favours.

C for Cool
B for Bloody good
A for Awesome!

I like this new grading scheme.

So is an E not a fail then and therefore you didn't actually get 2xA levels?

Or in England is it different?

E is technically a pass, but C is what people considered to be the pass grade.

Whilst I wouldn't list your GCSE's, if you feel your A level grades show you are hard working and capable, then I would declare them with the grade.

I wouldn't necessary declare them if they simply implied you were average.
