Hi guys,

Looking for some input on whether or not it would be worth upgrading the home PCs now or waiting until later in the year. I would like to upgrade in order to future proof the PCs for PCIe 3.0, IvyBridge and to move to water cooling.
Both PCs are primarily used for gaming (live streaming), video editing and web design.

Current Build

Motherboard: Gigabyte EX-58-UD5 X58
Processor: Intel I7 920 @ 4.0 GHz
Memory: 6GB Corsair XMS3
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce GTX 570
SSD: OCZ Agility III 120gb
HDD: 3x 500gb Samsung (RAID 0)
Power Supply: 850W Corsair HX
Capture Card: BlackMagic Intensity Pro

I was thinking to upgrade along the lines of the below, although I’m open to different suggestions/improvements!

Motherboard: Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k 3.3GHz OR Intel Core i7-2600k
Memory: Open to suggestions – Would like 16gb.

As for the graphics cards, the 570 has been bought recently, without realising you need to go SLI to use 3screens…So the question is, do I go for buying another 570 and SLI them or sell it and go for one, say, 7970 or other ATI card.

I’d be looking to make the move to water cooling for the new builds. Any suggestions for the above build? Is there much of an advantage to going for Custom over a kit? This is a very new area for me!

As always, thanks for the input! Much appreciated!

I'm looking into this as well but my system is a lot older than yours. I've read a few things about the Ivybridge set ups and at the moment I'm reading mixed reports about the release date (april - june) so really the first question is can you wait say 4 - 6 months before upgrading or can your current system deal with what you're doing just now?

I’m in the same boat and don’t think I’ll be able to wait 4 months or more for the Ivy’s . Seen lots of members on here recommend the Kingston memory which has been of offer many a time for £29.99 which is a bargain, was on the one day only deal today but sold out at this price. I would say keep a eye out for it being on offer again and grab yourself 16gig ready for the rest of your setup. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

Thanks guys, think I've decided to just look in to biting the bullet and look at the x79 stuff. Does anyone know of a decent monitor that is capable of displaying a whole variety of refresh rates? I've got a Hazro 27"and that one has a whole bunch of options, however, another ViewSonic 23" that can only has one option...A bit lost as to what it as that actually depicts what can be viewed...
