Help im stuck!!!

Half of me wants to upgrade right now but the other half is saying wait.

The core of my pc is 5 years old now and its showing its age at times.
Phenom II 955 3.2GHz
A bog standard ASUS motherboard
8 gig RAM

Needed a new PSU a few months back and with realizing I plan to upgrade I went overkill and bought a 1200w PSU and at the same time bought a NZXT Phantom 410 case with plenty room to grow.

And also currently running with a SAPPHIRE R9 270 Card that I got for very cheap.

I realize I could upgrade the 5 year old parts pretty cheap but what I want is for those parts to last 4-5 years.

Due to money no longer being as much of a problem im finally going to switch to intel and nvidia and not sure whether to go for a 4 core i7 or wait for the 8 cores to be released at the end of the year.

Another option I thought up would be to buy a good motherboard and a cheap i5 CPU and wait for the 8 core CPUs and upgrade once they are a stable option.

So basically im asking if I should

1. Go for it now and buy the best I can now
2. Buy a new motherboard now along with a cheap i5 upgrarding later to an 8 core CPU
3. Or just be patient

Any thoughts and advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance
