Evening guys, I've currently got a 2600k and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile upgrading this CPU to the 4770k. I'm only using it for gaming and the occasional movie, has anyone else made the jump and did you find it worthwhile?

Damnit wrong place, can a mod move this please?

I'd wait until summer to be honest, for next gen to be released.
There will be some discounts then, probably.

Last year I changed from 3570k to 4770k and was happy with the performance, but bigger change was going from gtx660 slix2 to gtx 780.
Which gpu do you have and what games do you play?
Do you have ssd, as this is another thing which boosts performance?

Tbh id stick with the 2600k, it's still a perfectly capable i7 chip and the move to a 4770k would show very little gains for gaming. As Bart Hunt has asked, whats your current gpu?

Hey folks, thanks for the quick replies.
I currently have an MSI 290GE and an SSD drive, I'm on windows 8.1 and currently play BF4.

Nice setup there, the 290 is very similair to the gtx 780 which i know from playing bf4 a lot myself will see you set. Is your cpu overclocked, also amd's mantle will give a nice boost in bf4.

I think I'm going to take your advice and stick with what I have, it's currently overclocked to 4GHz so once I find out how I'll try increasing that!

Im not familiair with sandy bridge overclocking myself as it's the one intel platform of late i skipped. But im sure if you ask in the overclocking section, people should be able to help out with tips for your particular mobo and cpu. The added bonus with sb is that they run much cooler than the haswell chips.
