To upgrade or not?

I currently have a Asus V3-P5945GC with the following...

Intel E2200
2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 OCZ
250GB Seagate
Pioneer DVDRW

To be honest it does the job. I don't game and only really surf and watch the odd episode of this and that. (Films are a no go as I've a 15" LCD.)

I've a bit of money coming (about £300) Unemployed so trying to make it stretch.

Think is, I'm in 2 minds if I should just up grade the GFX card to a HDMI and buy a ips235v monitor or overhaul the whole thing?

I'm leaning towards AMD if I choose the overhaul option. Something with onboard GFX/HDMI although not essential. Including monitor I could push to £400 tops. As said its strictly desktop use only, so I'm really at a loss as to what to do. Even which socket (AM3+/ M1/ FM1/ Intel)

Also DVD RW and Hard Drive are in working order so they're fine. I was even thinking of going the Intel G41 and keeping the E2200 with just upgrading to DDR3.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah DVD and HDD are SATA. PSU is 300w but I could push the boat out for a new one. Would a Card like a HD 5450 push a 30W PSU? I really need HDMI.

Thanks for the help by the way.

No, a 5450 would be okay, and give you the outputs you need. tbh if it runs what you need it to, a new monitor might be the best thing to do. If you wanted to upgrade something like this might be ideal:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GA-A75M-UD2H AMD A75 (Socket FM1) DDR3 Motherboard £69.38
1 x AMD Llano A4-3400 2.70GHz (Socket FM1) APU Processor (AD3400OJGXBOX) £53.99
1 x Cooler Master GX 450W '80 Plus' Power Supply £29.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/4GX) £17.99
Total : £184.85 (includes shipping : £11.25).

This would be a great little system, reusing your case (is it ATX?), HDD and DVD.

Cheers again mate. Its making me think. Although I know I don't really need a new system you know how the bug gets you. My case is mATX so both of those boards should fit if I'm correct?
