To wait or not to wait, that is ze question

I personally think it'll be total overkill for my res in all honesty, I mean who will need 3gigs of memory for 1080p? The only phantom I would go for is the 570 GTX.

Seems like you can't unlock voltage on this sadly however overclocking isn't really needed on it and i am sure you could still overclock a decent amount on stock voltage.

Seems like GTX570 is obvious choice for you since you are staying at that resolution.

Why buy a card for games that are not yet released? You'll just have superfluous power that isn't needed yet and is falling in value.

I'd wait until you need it and buy then. Chances are it will cost less at that point.

Well I doubt it will fall in price, the new gen cards aren't coming out until late 2011, and there will be nothing between now and then to really push the top cards down in price.

It's less than a month away, besides like I said before, I have some games now I cant' max which i'm also buying the card for now.

I may be looking at getting a new GPU soon, I want a new 1 for March for the new games which are coming out, like Crysis 2 and the rest, my 8800GTX isn't holding up anymore and it's upsetting to not be able to max out all these new games.
I'm running an i7 920@4GHZ and I game at 1920x1080.
I'm very partial to Nvidia (Sorry ATI guys, but after the brilliance of the 8800GTX I have no reason to doubt Nvidia cards) also I never run SLI, I only go for single cards generally.

Options are:
Wait until march and see if Nvidia bring out something new/better in my budget
Get 1 of these 480 GTX's for £194.99
Get a 470 GTX for £143.99
Get a 570 GTX for around £300 (It would be this 1, just due to it being so damn nice looking: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-143-GW&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010)
Get a 560 Ti Gigabyte SoC for £249.99
Stretch my budget to a 580 GTX and get anything, really

Just looking for opinions, I don't really have a max budget, I just want something that will serve me as well as my 8800GTX has done, maxing out games for the next 2-3 years.

I'm sorry, but after the geforce 5x00 series and ati 2/3 series this is a bad idea for either company.

570, over lock it to 580 speeds, saved a fortune, job done :) 3gb mem is a waste of time unless your running eyefinity setups.

I would wait if its mainly for future games, there will be new cards at the end of this month which might help lower the existing gpu prices a bit :)

How many slots are the 570 phantom cards because I think the 580 phantom is 3 slots wide making it awkward on some boards for SLI.
I'm gonna wait and see what the dual cards are like before I spend large amounts of cash, I rushed into buying the two 460's and now I want to change.
SLI is all well and good on games that run fine with SLI, with game that don't your stuck with the power of a single card. If that single card is a decent card your ok though.

If you don't really want to spend all that money on a gtx 580 then just get a gtx 570 and oc as needed. You can't go wrong either way tbh.
