Hi all, I have not long built a new powerful system originally for editing photos, book work, I built it so I could also play games but turns out I don't like playing them on the monitor. I'd prefer to play them on my tv like my ps4, I can get picture working on my tv via long hdmi cable, if I bought a sound card and long optical lead to plug into my surround sound that should sort the sound in guessing?

As above, HDMI delivers audio and video.

Type in 'Sound' in the search bar and set the default device to HDMI. Make a shortcut on the desktop if you end up switching sounds a lot.

HDMI 1.3 was released June 22, 2006 and increased the single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbit/s). It optionally allows deep color, with 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit xvYCC, sRGB, or YCbCr, compared to 24-bit sRGB or YCbCr in previous HDMI versions. It also optionally allows output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio streams for external decoding by AV receivers.
