Hello everyone this is my first post here, so greetings to you all...

I have a question and would value your opinions on what you would do in my shoes...

I currently have a PC with the following spec:

AMD 64 3500+
ASUS a8v deluxe motherboard
1 GB RAM
AGP GeForce 6800 GT graphics
120GB hard drive
17" TFT mointor

I'm a student (boo hiss, yes sorry) and have to live entirely on my student loan.

I have to make a choice...

1. Update my PC with some more RAM to make it 2GB and carry on playing newly released games pretty well but not quite on max settings but in 1280x1024 resolution BUT NOT GET AN XBOX 360.

OR

2. GET AN XBOX 360 CORE with just 1 game until March and no extra controller or anything and NOT UPGRADE MY PC UNTIL JANUARY NEXT YEAR.

What would you do in my shoes and also...

What exact cable (links please if you can to any) would i need to go from the 360 to a digital input on my tft monitor?

Bear in mind, should you get a 360 then you will be tempted to get a widescreen tft/tv for the bugger. Unless you can handle playing games in 4:3 format. You'd need a standard HD VGA cable, which are luckily getting more widespread at retailers now. Joytech & Madcatz sell them, as to MS themselves but they're still a bit rare.

My PC spec is worse then yours but I dumped it because games are just getting too poorly coded on the platform now and since you're stuck on AGP, you face an expensive upgrade (sort of) towards PCI-E, especially purchasing a new expensive GPU ...

Thanks for the reply, so you'd get the 360 and upgrade the PC next year considering the amount it would cost to really rev it up again?

What would xbox 360 games be like on my TFT, it has a 'set' or ideal res of 1280x1024. Would it be HD or exactly the quality of playing it on a TV.

thanks, just another quick question...

My TFT is a LG FLatron L1710B and only has a digital input and not a standard vga input on it. So I'm still not 100% on what cable to get.

I'm now wondering if it is worth getting core or premium?!?

Is there much of a saving in bulk if I get the premium, do you think hard drives will be more available at easter and with a price drop at all? What about the whole console, price drop at easter or not?
