So I've been running my machine in this state for a while now with no ill affects, but it is annoying just how hot it's running. Anyway, i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz, 1.330vcore, load line 6, all the normal jazz. Using a Corsair a50 cooler with MX-4 paste and a Corsair Carbide Air 540 case. With IBT I'm getting maximum temps of about 73c under full load. That's surely a bit high isn't it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those are good temps OP.

Put it this way, my 2500K gets hotter at 4.6 with an H100. (its crap btw, never buy an H100, most disappointing purchase ever)

Don't even ask about my 5.0GHz load temps, but lets just say that I have reverted back to 4.6 until I can afford a custom loop.

Hmm okay. I've been looking around and have seen others with lower temps in the mid 60s. If you say it's safe enough though I'll leave it as is! :)

Surely then 73c is really rather hot then? As it that's 10c above what you're getting.

Each chip is different..

IBT get the chip the hottest it can, most other program will never get it that high.. so you'll be getting around 60-65 on and during gaming use..

80C is the limit so don't worry.

Those temps are good rich I get similar on the same chip and cooler, though I only do short IBT runs as I don't like taking her over 70c too much.

Mine hit 70 odd on IBT with my Thermaltake Frio using low rpm crappy quiet fans, or High 60's using the original fans on low speed. That's using 1.34v I think at 4.5ghz.
