Bought MSI Armour RTX 2070.
should have done more research and kept up-to-date with the launch of the super series. I see that the 2060s is cheaper and better.
I feel like I've thrown away £460! Gross.
Even worth trying to return?

Yes and get a 2070S

Pretty sure if its in resalable condition they should accept a return for a refund. Also since were in the EU (just about) there is them laws they have to follow not just uk consumer laws, and i think eu laws might be better at these kinda things so u could look up that.

https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/index_en.htm

Uk info https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/i-want-to-return-my-goods-what-are-my-rights

Hmm. Since it was a computer trade fair (not their shop) and it was in person, but not in a shop, so technically they should accept a return within 14 days since it wasnt sold at their shop but somewhere else.

If you paid by credit card u have some protection with getting a refund that way too apparently. Check the receipt for return info or check their shop online for returns or cancellations info and use that to quote when ringing them up to return it.

Yeah return it...

Just say you bought it for a present and found they already got a new card or say you didnt realise it needed xxx psu as urs is underpowered so doesnt work in ur computer or something? Just dont accept a credit note or anything as they will try to push u on that probably so the money stays with em but im sure the law says they cant force it and should offer a money refund if you dont want a credit note.

You've not thrown away £460 because you have something tangible for it. You've basically overpaid for what you got and that is partly your fault.

If the trader has a returns policy (most do you'll have to look it up or ask) return it as unwanted goods, which will be at your cost but worth it overall in this case. If the card were to exhibit a fault that would be a different matter entirely especially if you used a credit card which if you didn't then I'm lost for words (within the forum rules) at that point tbh.

If you've installed it in your PC then yeah silly mistake just use the card and forget about it for 2 years until it becomes obsolete like the rest of the 2000 series ;)

I did this once but was more because i changed my mind rather than got mugged haha. Tried to return it to OCUK as it was bough direct from behind the counter but they wouldn't take it back as it wasn't faulty so ended up flogging it on ebay and made a small loss on the card.

Buying and selling retail online is a whole different story as you're protected by consumer acts/laws etc which allows you to return if you're not satisfied.

If you bought it face-to-face I believe it'll be at their discretion.

Are computer fairs still a thing?

They used to be good 20 years ago before online selling was a big thing. Now they are just overpriced and only useful if you need to find that hard to find retro component. Dealers tend to sell "amazing gaming" pcs with intergrated gpus. The motherboard and cpu bundles used to be good value. I used to have a table and sell my old parts once I built up a collection made some good money in the olden days. Still a big one in Leeds they tend to combine it with retro stuff now worth going if you fancy buying a cheap spectrum etc. Or looking at the exhibits. They've kind of morphed into building fairs now raspberry pi stuff and 3d printing.

Yeah, not only is the Super the same price and faster, at the moment bought online it comes with free YoungBlood and Control, which is worth a further 60 odd quid.

In real money about £15 each per game ref MM

I think you learned a valuable lesson for probably £100 so overall its a positive thing.. Always do your research before purchasing anything.. Stick the cards on ebay or fb take the small loss remember what you have learned!
